Women of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome!

It can be hard to feel powerful as a woman in a world led by men.

Regardless of your experience, education, or abilities, you often feel less qualified and less competent than men.

Somehow you have been convinced that being a strong and intelligent woman is a problem.

And even though you know it’s not true, you feel inferior to the people around you, especially men.

Trust me… you aren’t the only woman feeling “less than” men.

I have experienced that feeling for most of my life.

After almost a decade of rock climbing, I am still learning how to honor the fact that I actually know a lot and am skilled at climbing. There has been a persistent voice saying, “Men know more,” that I am still working to mute.

I know these thoughts are not just my own. Nor do they only live in the example of rock climbing.

This is part of being a woman, but it doesn’t have to be.

When we come together, we have the power to boost confidence, create community, feel heard, and help you step into empowerment.

This is what we are cultivating in the Women’s Mountain Journey.

We are a small group of women supporting each other through an inspiring and empowering journey through the Rocky Mountains.

The Women’s Mountain Journey is a 7-week backpacking therapy group from June 8th to August 3rd. We will be exploring the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, swimming in alpine lakes, and summiting mountains as a full female group.

This group is designed by women for women and includes two 3-Day backpacking trips, five group Zoom sessions, and our workbook, Empowered Woman’s Pathway.

Our focus is to support the women of Colorado in their self-discovery, empowerment, and connection to the natural world.

Courage

Through this pathway, we will explore how to step into courage. What do I mean by this? I mean: advocating for your needs, speaking your truth, setting boundaries, and reaching out for support.

Community

In community, we will uncover what it is like to be in a relationship with another person. What holds you back, and what inspires you. We encourage you to explore who you are in community and what you need from those around you to feel connected and safe.

Heart-Centered Leadership

Heart-centered leadership is the ability to inspire, connect, and help build meaningful relationships with kindness, courage, humility, transparency, and care. Here we will explore how to be strong heart-centered leaders as women (letting go of fears of being inferior or not enough).

Empowerment

This is where it all comes together. As Web Debois says, “There is no force equal to a woman determined to rise.” We will uncover how to overcome the obstacles you face, shift shame to hope, and embrace all the badassness you are.

Just bring your gear. We’ve got the rest!

When you sign up, you will be sent a list of all the gear you’ll need. And if you have no equipment (or experience!), don’t worry! We’ll help you get everything you need.

All the planning and coordination are taken care of so that you can focus on YOU (which may feel foreign).

You’ll be led by two therapists who are also wilderness first responders: Haley Wiedenman (the one speaking to you right now) and Brooke Shaffer. We’re both wilderness first responders trained in wilderness therapy through Naropa University. So, you’ll be in good hands!

Are you ready to take this journey toward empowerment? We’re here to support YOU every step of the way!
